Makoto Kawashima

Makoto Kawashima (Japanese川岛 诚, Makoto Kawashima, born 2 May 1979 in Obihiro, Hokkaidō ) is a Japanese hockey player, who is since 1999 in the Ōji Eagles in the Asia League Ice Hockey under contract.

Career

Makoto Kawashima played at the beginning of his career as a hockey player a year with Malmo IF in the J20 SuperElit, the highest Swedish Junior League. Since 1999, the defensive player is in the Ōji Eagles under contract. In his first year in Japanese Hockey League, he was awarded the Rookie of the Year. 2002 and 2005 he won with the team from Tomakomai the Japanese championship. The Asia League Ice Hockey he could win with his team in 2008 and 2012.

Internationally

For Japan, Makoto Kawashima took part in the junior level at the Junior B World Cup 1997. In the senior level, he stood in part at the World Championships in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 in the squad of his country. After the descent of the Japanese from the top division he stood for its colors in the tournaments of Division I 2005, 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2013 on the ice.

In the Asian Winter Games in 2011 he won the Japanese team behind Kazakhstan the silver medal. He also took part in the qualifiers for the 2010 Winter Olympics in February 2009.
