Manu Ginóbili

Emanuel David Ginóbili ( born July 28, 1977 in Bahía Blanca) is an Argentine professional basketball player. He plays in the U.S. NBA with the San Antonio Spurs, with whom he twice in 2003, 2005 and 2007 won the American Basketball Championship.

Emanuel Ginóbili was honored in May 2008 as one of the fifty major personalities of the sport of basketball in Europe. The ceremony was performed by the Euro League Basketball at an official ceremony at the Palacio de Deportes de la Comunidad de Madrid, Madrid (Spain).

Career

Early years

Ginóbili, who comes from a family of professional basketball players, started at the age of just three years with basketball. His eldest brother, Leandro played seven years in the Argentine basketball league before retiring in 2003 from professional sports. His other brother, Sebastian, played both in Argentina and in the Spanish professional league. Her father, Jorge, was the coach of the Association of Bahia Blanca, in the Manu Ginobili also learned to play basketball.

Ginobili has dual Argentine and Italian citizenship. He is fluent in Spanish, Italian and English. In 2004 he married Marianela Oroño that a pair of twins, Dante and Nicola, brought on 16 May 2010 to the world.

His professional career started Ginobili at the Andino Sport Club in La Rioja in the 1995-1996 season. A year later he was sent by his team to the Estudiantes de Bahia Blanca. San Antonio Spurs (since 2002)

Ginobili signed his first contract with the San Antonio Spurs after the FIBA Basketball World Championship in 2002, when he was elected along with Yao Ming, Dirk Nowitzki and Peja Stojakovic in the All- Tournament team. In his first NBA season, 2002-2003, he came up behind Steve Smith of the bank.
