Marcigny

Marcigny is a vibrant small town with 1900 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the countryside of brionnais. It is located in the department of Saône -et -Loire, and is the capital of the canton Marcigny. Marcigny is one of the partner cities of the Palatinate town Freinsheim.

There were once many monasteries located in the vicinity of the place. The meetings held there the nuns gave it the name Marcigny -les- Nonnains.

Tourist small town is mainly for the remains of the former priory, now a museum, is housed for old pottery now known.
