Marcos António Elias Santos, shortly Marcos António ( born May 25, 1983 in Alagoinhas, Bahia ) is a Brazilian footballer. He stands at the 1st FC Nuremberg under contract.

Career

In August 2002, he moved from his hometown club in Brazil for FC Porto in Portugal, where he was employed in the second team. After half a year he moved on loan to Académica Coimbra in the Primeira Liga. After relegation, he moved to league rivals Gil Vicente FC on. In 2006 he moved on loan within the league to União Leiria.

After five years of Marcos António Portugal left in summer 2007 and moved to AJ Auxerre in the French Ligue 1, where he could not sit down and was awarded the following year to Greece for PAOK Thessaloniki. There, too, he could not establish himself as a regular player and returned in 2009 returned to Portugal, where he joined Belenenses Lisbon.

After descending 2010 Marcos António joined Rapid Bucharest in the Romanian League 1 In the team of coach Marius Şumudică he became the master force in the central defense and skilled at the end of the season in fourth place for the Europa League. This success was repeated a year later. At the same time, he and his team a the cup final in 2012, but it lost to Dinamo Bucharest 0-1.

For the 2012/13 season Marcos António joined the Bundesliga for 1.FC Nürnberg. On September 29, 2012 António played his first game in the Bundesliga in the home match against VfB Stuttgart. He was in the starting lineup, but played shortly after the beginning of the ball so unhappy Goalkeeper Raphael Schaefer back that Vedad Ibisevic go in between and that could achieve 1-0. When he again played a little later a false back-pass, but the VfB could not use, he was replaced in the 16th minute. Then he came because of a long knee injury for the rest of the season no longer used.
