Maria Isser

Maria Isser - Reschenauer ( born October 22, 1929 in Matrei am Brenner, † February 25, 2011 in Innsbruck ) was an Austrian luger. With two World Cup titles and five European Championships she was the most successful luger 1950s.

Life and career

The Tyrolean Maria Isser comes from a successful luge and Bobfamilie. Her siblings Joseph ( born 1926 ), Paul ( b. 1928 ), Henry ( b. 1928 ), Fritz and Franz Isser (* 1932) were also world-class lugers.

Isser won at the first post-war European Championships 1951 in Igls Karla behind Kienzl and Hilde storm the bronze medal. The following four European Championships (1952 in Garmisch -Partenkirchen, 1953 in Cortina d' Ampezzo, 1954 in Davos, 1955 in Clausthal ) they could decide for themselves. 1956, in Imst added another silver medal.
