Märjamaa Parish

Märjamaa (German Marienland or Merjama ) is a rural municipality in the Estonian county Rapla with an area of 872 km ². It is thus with the largest community of Estonia. Märjamaa has 7146 inhabitants (1 January 2011 ) and lies about 65 km from Tallinn and 30 km from Rapla away.

Märjamaa was first mentioned in 1364 with the construction of a stone church. Worth seeing are the Church of St. Mary Märjamaa from the 16th century and the Farmer's Museum of Sillaotsa.
