Maßweiler

Maßweiler is a municipality in the southwest, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Thaleischweiler- frogs.

Geography

Maßweiler is north of Schwarzbachtals on the Sickinger height, the district extends to the Schwarzenbach and in the westernmost Wallhalbtal.

To Maßweiler includes the residential places Faustermühle, Hitscherhof, Kneispermühle and Häselbergerhof.

History

Throughout its history Maßweiler often changed the administrative affiliation. The first mention was Maßweiler in 1304 on the occasion of a dispute by Count Walram I of Zweibrücken and his brother Eberhard. Maßweiler possessed with Reifenberg a common district and was the tenth of charge opposite the Abbey Wörschweiler.

By the end of the 18th century Maßweiler belonged to the Duchy of Palatinate -Zweibrücken, 1760 the site was assigned to the office of mayor Contwig. After taking the left bank of the Rhine by French revolutionary troops (1794 ) and the reorganization of the administration on the French model of place belonged first to the canton Contwig and then to Canton Two bridges in the department of Thunder Mountain.

When the Palatinate in 1816 after the Congress of Vienna and a land swap with Austria became part of Bavaria, the town belonged to the country 's Commissariat Maßweiler Zweibrücken from 1938, the County of Zweibrücken was formed. Maßweiler was the seat of a Bürgermeistereiamts, which was also responsible for the communities Reifenberg and Rieschweiler. In 1972, the community came to the district Pirmasens, the district was renamed Southwest Palatinate in 1997.

The Hitscherhof in the south Maßweilers goes back to a 1295 First mentioned Hizhusin village, which was received in 1563. Also the place Mulenhusin is mentioned in 1295. In its place, the miller Faust in 1705 built the present Faustermühle. The 1440 is called Knyswilre precursor of Kneispermühle.

During the Cold War nuclear weapons were in the former Western Wall tunnel in " Mühlenser reason " temporarily stored by the Americans. The site is now "eV SPECIES " in possession of the animal protection association.

The local council in Maßweiler consists of 16 council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 of personalized proportional representation, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Coat of arms

The blazon of the arms is: " From black and gold wavy divided diagonally left, top right, a golden lily, bottom left, a red water wheel ".

The colors of gold and red are taken from the coat of arms of the Counts of Zweibrücken, the black and gold of the Wittelsbach family of the Palatinate and Palatinate -Zweibrücken. The lily is the attribute of St. Anthony, which is dedicated to the village church. The mill-wheel refers to the abandoned Mühlhausen.

The coat of arms was granted in 1978 by the district government of Rheinhessen-Pfalz.

Tourism and Leisure

Maßweiler has a share in the busy Miihlenweg where especially the Kneispermühle is a tourist attraction.

At the hamlet Hitscherhof in Schwarzbach an 18- hole golf course was created in 1993. This is the scene of Olaf Pausts " Pfalz- thriller" Handicap 13 ( 2003).

Structures

Events

Since 2008, the village festival no longer takes place at Fountain Square, but in the parking lot in front of the club house.

The " Masswill'rer notch " is the 4th weekend in September.

Clubs

From 2000, the supraregional SPECIES club has set up on a former military site at Maßweiler a sanctuary for wildlife and there partly housed big game. In the early years there were licensing-related problems with the supervisory authorities of the county,
