Max Kaminsky Trophy

The Max Kaminsky Trophy is awarded by the Ontario Hockey League. It has been awarded since the end of the season 1969/70 annually to the best defenders in the OHL. The winner will also take part in the elections to CHL Defenceman of the Year since 1988. Until 1969, the sporty fairest player was awarded the trophy. Since then serves for the William Hanley Trophy, which is awarded since the season 1974/95. Between 1970 and 1974 there was no award for the fairest player.

The award was named after Max Kaminsky, who was head coach of the 1960 Memorial Cup winning in St. Catharines Teepees and died shortly after the success of complications from cancer.
