Maxi Gnauck

Maxi Gnauck ( born October 10, 1964 in Berlin) is a former German gymnast.

The jersey of the GDR it was in Moscow in 1980 at the Summer Olympics Olympic Champion on the uneven bars. To this end, she won another silver medal in the individual all-around and two bronze medals on the ground and in the team all-around. Between 1979 and 1985 Maxi Gnauck total of six times world champion and five times European champion. The readers of the daily newspaper Junge Welt chose Maxi Gnauck 1980 Sportswoman of the Year. In 2000 she was accepted as the first German gymnast into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame. From 1993 to 2004 Maxi Gnauck worked in Norderstedt as head coach of the gymnastics center Harksheide, since 2005 the Northwest Swiss art and Gymnastics Center Liestal.

In the GDR Maxi Gnauck 1984 awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in gold. At the end of their sporting careers, she received the Star of People's Friendship in silver.
