Petra Kandarr

Petra Kandarr (born Vogt, born August 20, 1950 in Halle) is a former German sprinter who competed for East Germany.

1969 in Athens, she was a 19 -year-old high school student three times European champion in the 100 m, 200 m and the 4 x 100 - meter relay team (along with Bärbel Podeswa, Renate Meißner, Regina Höfer ). For this, she was elected East German Sportswoman of the Year and awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in silver.

The European Athletics Championships 1971 in Helsinki, she was seventh over 100 m and won the 4 x 100 meters relay with the team of the GDR the silver medal. After her marriage in 1972 starting under the name Kandarr she won at the Indoor Athletics Championships 1973 in Rotterdam silver over 60 meters and was built by the EM 1974 in Rome Eighth about 200 m.

Petra Kandarr is 1,73 m tall and weighed 62 kg in their active time. She belonged to the SC Chemistry Hall and trained with Sepp Breitschaft. After saying goodbye to the sport she studied education and worked as a teacher in the Children's and Youth Sports School in Halle ( Saale). Since 1991 she lives in Karlsruhe. She is the mother of the former professional tennis player Jana Kandarr.
