Melena del Sur is a municipality and a city in the Cuban province of Mayabeque. By 2010, the municipality belonged to the defunct province of La Habana. It counts 20,646 inhabitants in an area of 228.46 km ², which corresponds to a population density of 91.0 inhabitants per square kilometer.

Melena del Sur is bordered to the north and northwest of San Jose de las Lajas, east to Güines and to the west by Batabano. The southern border is the bay Ensenada de la Broa. There is also the Playa Mayabeque and the mouth of one of the largest rivers in the country, the river Mayabeque.

The settlement was officially founded in 1768.
