Michael Kraus (swimmer)

Michael Kraus ( born September 26, 1955 in Gladbeck ) is a former German swimmer.

Kraus succeeded at the World Swimming Championships in 1975, the breakthrough in the world-class. He was sixth in the 200- meter butterfly stretch and won the 4x100 -meter medley relay silver medal. A year later, he won the German 4x100 - meter medley relay at the 1976 Olympics in Montreal, the bronze medal, after he had finished fifth in the 200- meter track. At the European Championships in 1977, he was about 200 meters butterfly European champions. Together with Klaus Steinbach, Gerald and Peter Mörken cam he also won the medley relay. The following year, at the World Swimming Championships in 1978 Kraus won the medley relay silver. From 1974 to 1980, he won seven consecutive German Swimming Championships title on the 200-meter butterfly distance.

In addition to the individual titles at the German Championships he was successful with the club season of SG Gladbeck. Here, the German championship title towered over 4x200 meters freestyle out in German record time in 1981.
