Michael Mørkøv

Michael Mørkøv ( born April 30, 1985 in Kokkedal, Fredensborg Municipality ) is a Danish cyclist.

Michael Mørkøv began his career in 2005 at the Danish Continental team GLS. In his first season he was fourth at the Fyen Rundt. In 2006 he became second stage on the second section of the Olympia's Tour and fourth in the German -day race around the Elm.

In March 2006, he won his first gold medal at the Track Cycling World Cup 2005/2006 in Sydney in the team pursuit with his Danish national team coach Heiko Salzwedel. A second gold medal he won in Madison with Alex Rasmussen.

At the Track Cycling World Cup 2006/2007 in November 2006 in Sydney Mørkøv were each second in the team pursuit and Madison ( with Alex Rasmussen). In Los Angeles he won in January 2007 along with Rasmussen in Madison and was second with the Danish railway quad. Winning the bronze medal in the four- team driving at the track - Cycling World Championships in Palma de Mallorca in March 2007 it was the first medal by a Danish four - team since 1993.

He celebrated his biggest success at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing in the team pursuit with a new national record of 3:56,831, the third fastest time in the team's driving at all.
