Michael Rupp

Michael " Mike" Rupp ( born January 13, 1980 in Cleveland, Ohio ) is an American professional ice hockey player who is since February 2013 at the Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League contract.

Career

Michael Rupp began his career as a hockey player in the Ontario Hockey League, where he was active for the Windsor Spitfires and Erie Otters 1997-2000. During this time he was first selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1998 in the first round as a whole ninth player from the New York Islanders. However, since they did not receive him in the next two years under contract, Rupp was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2000 in the third round as 76th player overall by the New Jersey Devils. In his first two seasons in New Jersey, the attacker played exclusively for their farm team in the American Hockey League, the Albany River Rats.

In his rookie year in the National Hockey League Rupp won in season 2002/ 03 right off the bat the Stanley Cup with the Devils who cast him in March 2004 to the Phoenix Coyotes, where he played the following year and a half, taking in during the lockout NHL season 2004/ 05 ran aground on the Danbury Thrashers of the United Hockey League.

On October 8, 2005 Rupp was together with Cale Hulse and Jason Chimera for Geoff Sanderson and Tim Jackman transferred from Phoenix to Columbus Blue Jackets, for which he was active until end of season. He then joined as a free agent to his former club New Jersey Devils. From 2009 to 2011 Rupp played for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Then he signed a contract for three years with the New York Rangers, who submitted him on February 4, 2013 in exchange for Darroll Powe and Nick Palmieri to the Minnesota Wild.

Rupp is famous for his physical game. In addition, he is known as " Scratcher ". On average, he is involved in almost every game into a brawl, which he usually decides for himself.
