Monster in My Pocket

Monster in My Pocket is a franchise that has been developed by Morrison Entertainment Group, headed by Joe Morrison and John Weems (two former senior executives of Mattel ).

The focus is on monsters and mythical creatures from religion and mythology, fantasy and science - fiction literature, cryptids, and other paranormal phenomena. Monster in My Pocket produced trading cards, comics, books, toys, a board game, a video game and an animated special, along with music, clothing, kites, stickers and various other things.

The line proved to be controversial for various reasons and many changes were implemented, the wegbrachte it from its original myth- oriented thoughts, ie after the fourth series the real monsters have been replaced by " vermin " (Super Creepies ), dinosaurs and aliens, which therefore the series 5, 6 and 7 showed. In the latest edition of 2006, there were then " real" monster, but the numbering was ( each monster had its own number ) did not continue, but picked up figures from the first series and redesigned.

It is not to be confused with the Pocket Monsters, the Japanese name for the Pokémon ( which was the planned name for this franchise ).

Toys

Monster in My Pocket was released by Matchbox in 1990. They were small, soft plastic figures in various colors, the monsters and other thematically similar intelligences.

In the first edition eleven series have been published, the third is the rarest. There were over 200 monsters in the collection, most a point value has been assigned. Among the monsters with the highest scores were for example the Etruscan deity Charun with 100 points, among those with the least, for example, Invisible Man, with only 5 points. Initially, that is, in the first series, the highest point value amounted to 25 This, however, rose from series to series, it was for the second ( Monster # 49-72 ) and the third (# 73-96 ) 30 points, the highest value until finally, the fourth series (# 97-120 ) introduced the 100-point monster.

Monster in My Pocket in other media

The earliest Monster in My Pocket items were trading cards, illustrated by Jan Sheets and Jenice Heo, which came out in 1990, with no other credit than for Morrison Entertainment Group. The images of sheets and Heo have been used for other materials, such as for the sticker album by Panini, or for a picture book that appeared on German at Xenos.

There was a comic book, written by Dwayne McDuffie and primarily drawn by Gil Kane and Ernie Colon, who appeared in the U.S. in 1991 at Harvey Comics. Of these, there were four issues that appeared every two months; despite the open end and the promises that sales justifies a monthly edition, the series was discontinued.

A video game was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) by Konami. It had largely even if, for example, Hobgoblin and Gremlin, who had initially supported the good monsters in the comic, now appeared the same concept of the comic, as a rogue; Gremlin was there even a boss.
