Moravica District

Moravica (Serbian Моравички округ, Moravički okrug ) is an administrative district in the Serbian heartland.

It consists of the following municipalities ( opstine )

The district has 2002 230.748 inhabitants according to the census. The head office is based in Čačak.

There are important religious monuments in the area Čačaks in the form of monasteries and churches. The 10 monasteries with the name " Ovčarsko - Kablarska klisura " are very important for Serbia. Many of them were built in the time of the dynasties Nemanjić, Lazarević and Brankovic. Historical papers and documents were kept for centuries in these monasteries and created there as well.

Čačak is one of the major economic centers in Serbia. The economy is dominated by industrial production. A central position is taken by the metal- processing plants " Sloboda " and " Cer" a merchant, the paper manufacturing, chemical plant " 1 Maj " and the company for farming and agriculture " Stocar ".
