Morris 250 JU

Morris JU 250

The Morris JU 250 (also known as Austin JU 250 ) was a small van BMC or after the merger of British Leyland Motor Corporation. It was built as so-called Forward - utility vehicle as a van / van or chassis for bodies. Driver and front passenger sat on the engine, the B- series petrol engine with 1622 cc and 36 kW (49 hp).

From the British Autocar magazine, a 4,180 pound expensive 250 - JU- RV was tested, where (93 km / h) reached a maximum speed of 58 mph. The tester found it a big improvement over the J2, which it replaced. However, it was difficult to drive and the noise level, especially over 40 mph (64 km / h) was very large.

After the formation of British Leyland Motor Corporation in 1968, it was renamed in BMC 250 JU. In 1970 he again became " Austin Morris 250 JU ". Neither the development nor the marketing of JU had been identified as a priority in BLMC Group due to the many corporate problems. Nevertheless, he verkaute on the domestic market against competitors vehicles such as primarily the Ford Transit and the now aging Bedford CF well. Later, however, he fell further and further behind and was replaced with the smaller Morris J4 1974 Leyland Sherpa.
