Mueang Loei District

Amphoe Mueang Loei ( Thai: อำเภอ เมือง เลย ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the province of Loei. The provincial capital Loei is also the capital of the district of Mueang Loei.

Geography

Neighboring districts (from north clockwise): Amphoe Chiang Khan to Pak Chom, Na Duang, Erawan, Wang Saphung, Phu Ruea and Tha Li All counties are located in the province of Loei.

Economic importance and

Loei is a modest economic center on the border with Laos.

In addition to agriculture (cotton) copper ore, manganese ore and other ores are mined.

History

1853 have been made (Rama IV ), initial attempts at controlled development of the area under King Mongkut, was made to Loei city. 1907 then the Loei province was proclaimed.

Education

In Amphoe Mueang Loei Rajabhat University is the Loei.

Management

Amphoe Mueang Loei is divided into 14 communes ( tambon), which further into 130 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

The city ( Mueang thesaban ) Loei covers the whole tambon Kut Pong.

There are also two small towns ( Tambon thesaban ): Na O consists of parts of the tambon Na O, Nam Suai consists of parts of the tambon same name.

There are also 13 " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
