The train station Munich -Giesing was built in 1898 to the newly created railway line Munich East Deisenhofen. The station was at that time little more than a kilometer away from the then Giesing and surrounded by meadows and fields. At this time the community Giesing was incorporated into the metropolitan area since 1854. 1904 another railway line over Perlachturm was built to cross road, which ran from Ostbahnhof by the Giesing Bahnhof and the cemetery on Perlacher Forest, the existing route Munich East Deisenhofen leaves towards the east with a fork.

From 1912 stood adjacent to the train station a tram depot, which was used until 1972 and decommissioned it and demolished. Only in the late 1920s and in the period of National Socialism grew Giesing right up to the station and the fields and meadows were built along the Deisenhofener road that connected Giesing center with the railway with spacious living blocks. In addition, the carriers have been electrified in this time. On 28 May 1972, the station was integrated into the network of the Munich S-Bahn.

Construction

S-Bahn station

The S-Bahn station has four tracks, one of which will be used without platform for freight and two for the S -Bahn. The fourth track with platform serves as a siding and is occasionally used for special trains. A special feature of the station is that the distance between the East Railway Station and the junction at the cemetery Perlacher forest in left-hand traffic, and not, as at the Deutsche Bahn is operated in the usual right-hand traffic. This is because the S-Bahn trains must change their direction at Ostbahnhof, and thus a time-consuming change of the tracks can be avoided.

Subway station

The underground station is similar to all other metro stations opened in 1980 at the U2 designed as a special feature, however, there are breakthroughs to lock in the basement ceiling platform. The rear track walls are covered with large, vertically disposed wall panels which are decorated in beige. The floor is covered with Isarkiesel art stones and the two (formerly four) continuous rooflights fitted ceiling is veneered with aluminum fins. Sunrises to lock bullet exist at both ends and in the middle of the straight over entire length platform. The retrofitted lift connects the S- platform on the lock floor directly to the subway platform, also introduces additional lift from the basement lock on the station forecourt. The lock floor extends over the entire length of the subway station, which is rather unusual in Munich.
