Munster is a municipality with 3123 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district of Kufstein, Tyrol ( Austria ). The municipality is located in the judicial district of rats mountain.

Geography

Münster is located on a slight hill in the lower Inn Valley at Rofangebirge. In the municipality the Front Sonnwendjoch ( 2,224 m ) and the Zireiner lake are on the verge of Rofanspitze ( 2259 m).

From the community itself the settlement area is still a bit further subdivided in contrast to Statistics Austria. To include the districts Hueb, house, yard, Entgasse, Aichach, Zaussach, village, Lindenfeld, Oberdorf, hell stone, Frax, Bachleiten, Gröben, Zoblau, Asten, Kronbichl, Green Brook, Habach and on the opposite Innseite the locks Lichtwerth and Lipperheide.

Neighboring municipalities are Eben am Achensee, Kramsach, Reith in the Alpbach Valley, Steinberg am Achensee, Strass im Zillertal and Wiesing. West borders with the municipality Wiesing at the Schwaz district.

History

The parish church of the Assumption was built originally in the Gothic and 1746/47 in Baroque style. Further noteworthy is the castle built in 1890 Neumatzen.

Coat of arms

On April 11, 1972, the municipality of Münster was awarded a coat of arms. Blazon (Coat of Arms description): " In a golden tip a dancer with red robe and black skirt in the black squares each a golden glove. " The coat of arms is reminiscent of a unique custom in Tyrol, the Münsterer glove dance. Every year, was elected the most beautiful and best dancer on Whit Monday on the Tegerwiese, the price was a pair of gloves. 1556 was the banned because of the general turmoil since ancient acclaimed dance festival. The colors of the flag are yellow-black community.

Economy and infrastructure

Most important sources of income are tourism and agriculture. In the municipality of Münster is located on the right Innufer a bottling plant for mineral water.

Since 2011, Münster has a rehab clinic for neurology, cardiovascular, pulmonary and oncology.
