Mustasch

Mustasch is a Swedish Heavy-Metal-/Hard-Rock-Band from Gothenburg.

History

The founders Ralf Gyllenhammar, Hannes Hansson, Mats Hansson and Mats Johansson in the early 1990s were already active in a punk band called Grindstone. As their style over time, increasingly changed, the band was dissolved in 1995 and the four members were dedicated to other projects for the first time.

In 1998, the four former bandmates met on the island of Orust on the farm of Hannes and Mats Hansson again where first demo recordings for Mustasch arose, which soon appeared on on some compilations. About the befriended psychedelic rock band The Soundtrack of Our Lives came Mustasch with Fredrik Wennerlund, a manager of the major labels EMI Group, in contact. Wennerlund became aware of the costs borne by the The- soundtrack -of -Our - Lives- members Mustasch T- shirts. In 2000 they received from this contact a recording contract with Majesty, a sub- label of EMI, and played shortly thereafter in a commercial for the Toyota Avensis with.

In February 2001 the band released The True Sound of the New West their first EP, which earned them the reputation of being a mix of Black Sabbath and The Cult. Together with producer Roberto Laghi (Hardcore Superstar ), who had already assisted in their EP, work began on their debut album, Above All, which was released in March 2002 and made it to number 22 on the Swedish album charts. This was followed by a tour of Norway, Finland and Denmark and another with Gluecifer and Rose Tattoo by Germany. In their homeland was Mustasch for Grammis, the Swedish equivalent of the Grammy Award nominated in the category "Best Hard Rock ".

For the next album, they worked with producer Jacob Hellner ( Rammstein, Apocalyptica ) together. Ratsafari was released in September 2003 and brought them chart success alongside another Grammis nomination. More tours through Europe followed by Germany as support for Motörhead.

The next album, which should go back to their own information towards their roots, has been resumed with Roberto Laghi. In June 2005, Powerhouse appeared as the last album at Majesty. After the recording contract was fulfilled with the major label, took Mustasch self-published EP Parasite, which debuted at number 22 in the Swedish charts. Shortly after, the band signed in September 2006 at the metal label Regain Records, where on 18 May 2007 Latest Version of the Truth appeared. The album managed third place, the highest ever placing the band in the Swedish album charts, shortly before the single from the Double Nature even climb to second place. Also nominated for the Grammis led to success. At the gala January 9, 2008 Mustasch received the award for "Best Hard Rock ", presented by Mikkey Dee.

In March 2008, published Mustasch the best-of compilation Lowlife Highlights with 18 songs from the albums released by EMI. The band played in August at the Wacken Open Air

In the summer of 2008, founding member and lead guitarist Hannes Hansson left the band and was replaced by David Johannesson in October 2008. With their new guitarist they toured first as headliners and directly thereafter along with the band The apocalyptic riders across Europe.

2009 then had a drummer Mats " Dojan " Hansson after numerous failures due to injury (muscle tears) by Danne McKenzie be replaced, who had previously represented him frequently. In December 2011, the band announced the separation of McKenzie. It was not until five months later - in May 2012 - the band announced that Jejo Perković, who stepped since the separation of McKenzie for several concerts, belong from now on as a permanent member of the band.
