Naryn Province

The area Naryn ( областы kirgis. Нарын; Russian Нарынская область ) is one of seven regions ( oblast) of Kyrgyzstan in Central Asia. It is located in the center of the country and is bordered by the areas Tschüi, Issyk Kul, Osh and Jalalabad, as well as China. The region has an area of ​​45,200 km ² and around 270,000 inhabitants. The population density of the largest Kyrgyz territory with 6 inhabitants per square kilometer is the lowest in the country. Naryn also has the highest birth rate in Kyrgyzstan. The name is derived from the Naryn river and the eponymous city.

The administrative center of the region is the city of Naryn.

Geography

The area Naryn consists mainly of high mountains and plateaus, most of which are over 2000 m high. To the north is the mountain Songköl, which is the second largest lake in the country after the Issyk Kul. The Naryn river runs through the area from east to west and is thereby accumulated several times.

Traffic

Due to its easily technically inconvenient location between several high mountain ranges, the area Naryn is insufficiently developed. Of the two major roads leads one of Kochkor ( with connections from Bishkek ) over the 3030 m high Dolon Pass in the territory's capital. To the south it at 3752 m high Turugart - pass the Chinese border. The other road opens up to the north of the area and connects Kochkor over the 3586 m high Teo - ASUU Pass with Kara- Balta, where there is also a connection to Bishkek.
