National Anthem of the Republic of China

San Min Chu -i (Chinese三民主义/三民主义, Pinyin sanmin Zhǔyì ) is the national anthem of the Republic of China, whose territory now limited to Taiwan. The title translates as Three Principles of the People and refers to the technology developed by Sun Yat-sen national ideology of the Republic of China. The principles are Staats-Sozialismus/Volkswohl (Chinese民生 主义/民生 主义, Pinyin Minsheng Zhǔyì ), democracy / popular law (Chinese民权 主义/民权 主义, Pinyin minquan Zhǔyì ) and nationalism / nation (Chinese民族 主义/民族 主义, Pinyin Minzu Zhǔyì ). The song represents the visions and hopes of a new nation and their people. It is also the party song of the Kuomintang.

The anthem is banned in mainland China, Hong Kong is strongly discouraged by their public performance, although it is not officially banned there. With the inauguration of President Chen Shui -bian in 2000 in Taiwan, the famous singer A- Mei Chang sang the anthem. This led to them to spend several months banned from performing in the People's Republic of China.

Genesis

The text of San Min Chu -i was created by a collaboration of the following Kuomintang members:

  • Hu Hanmin (Chinese胡汉民, Pinyin Hu Hanmin )
  • Dai Jitao (Chinese戴季陶, Pinyin Dài Jitao )
  • Liao Zhongkai (Chinese廖仲恺, Pinyin Liao Zhōngkǎi ) and
  • Shao Yuan Chong (Chinese邵元 冲, Pinyin Shao Yuánchōng ).

The text was first presented on July 16, 1924 during the opening speech by Sun Yat-sen at the opening of the Whampoa Military Academy.

After the success of the Northern Expedition to the National Association, the KMT decided to use the text as a party anthem and therefore asked the public for suggestions for musical accompaniment. The melody of Cheng Maoyun won the competition among 139 participants.

On March 24, 1930 proposed several KMT party members to explain San Min Chu -i the official national anthem. However, there was a strong opposition who were against that party symbol represents the entire country. Therefore, the Committee for Research and preparation of the national anthem (Chinese国歌 编制 研究 委员会/国歌 编制 研究 委员会, pinyin Guógē Bianzhi yanjiu Wěiyuánhuì ) was founded. This supported the suggestion to use the party song as the national anthem. On 3 June 1937, the Central Bureau confirmed (Chinese中央 常务委员会/中央 常务委员会, Pinyin Zhongyang Changwu Wěiyuánhuì ) the proposal, and in 1943 was San Min Chu -i official national anthem of the Republic of China.

San Min Chu -i was elected at the 1936 Summer Olympics to the world's best national anthem.

As the national anthem is a party song of the Kuomintang at the same time, there is still an unofficial anthem, called the flag song.
