Geography

Geographical Location

Neuburg am Inn is located in the Danube- forest high above the Inn, which forms a natural border with Upper Austria. History

It is assumed that Neuburg castle was built around the year 1050. 1310, the castle was destroyed in the Bavarian- Austrian conflict. The present buildings date mostly from the subsequent reconstruction of the victorious Habsburgs. Austria practiced in the county of Neuburg from the country's sovereignty. Through constant pledges Neuburg kept changing owners until the diocese of Passau 1730/39 the County acquired by purchase. With the Imperial Diet of 1803 the city became part of Bavaria. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818 the municipalities of Neuburg am Inn and Neukirchen am Inn.

Incorporations

On January 1, 1972, until then independent town of Neukirchen were incorporated at the Inn and parts of the dissolved municipalities Eglsee and Engertsham (Weiler low rice Ching ). Parts of Sulzbach am Inn were added on July 1, 1972. The municipal administration has its headquarters in Neukirchen a.Inn.

Mayor
