New Taipei City

New Taipei City (新 北市, Xinbei Shì, Tongyong Pinyin Sinbei Shih, PEH oē - jī Sin -pak chhi ), official English name New Taipei City is, with about 3.9 million inhabitants, the largest city of the Republic of China on Taiwan.

New Taipei City was established in December 2010 through the merger of all 29 cities and towns of the former Taipei County in northern Taiwan, and has since the status of a centrally-administered city.

Geography

New Taipei City surrounds the Taipei City, bounded on the southwest by the Taoyuan County, in the southeast on the Yilan County, in the north of the county-level city of Keelung and the East China Sea and to the Formosastraße in the northwest.

In the central and western parts of the metropolis merges with the Taipei Basin. The Yangmingshan mountain range runs through the north of the city. Along the south-eastern border runs the Xueshan Mountain Range, the northernmost foothills of the central mountains of the island, to the Cape Sandiau, the easternmost point of Taiwan, sufficient.
