Niccolò III d'Este, Marquis of Ferrara
Niccolò III. d' Este (* 1383 or 1384; † December 26, 1441 ) was the only child of the Marquis Alberto I. d'Este of Ferrara, Modena and Reggio, whom he succeeded in 1393.
Niccolò married three times:
- In June 1397 Gigliola da Carrara († 1416), a daughter of Francesco da Carrara,
- On April 2, 1418 Parisina Malatesta (* 1404, † 1425), a daughter of Andrea Malatesta and Lucrezia Ordelaffi
- 1431 Ricarda di Saluzzo († 1474 ), a daughter of Tommaso III, Margrave of Saluzzo
From these three marriages and of a series of extramarital connections he had at least 24 children:

Three months after his accession to the throne in spring 1433 confirmed the Roman-German Emperor Sigismund on September 17, 1433 the Marquis Niccolò III. d' Este, the county Comacchio as an additional fiefs, after he had beaten his sons knights on September 13.
