Nicolae Văcăroiu

Nicolae Văcăroiu ( born December 5, 1943 in Cetatea Albă, today Bilhorod - Dnistrovskyi, Ukraine) is a Romanian politician. He is a member of the socialist Partidul Social Democrat ( PSD). Between 1992 and 1996 he was a Romanian Prime Minister from 2000 to 2008 Chairman of the Romanian Senate.

On 19 April 2007, President Traian Băsescu was suspended from Parliament, including him were " constitutional violations" and " arbitrary application of the law " accused. Thus was Nicolae Văcăroiu, the former Chairman of the Senate, the new acting president until Băsescu was confirmed in May 2007 through a referendum in which the people should decide on his deposition in office.

On 14 October 2008 Nicolae Văcăroiu Parliament elected as Chairman of the Romanian Court of Auditors.
