The sneezing is a 2'362 m above sea level. M. high mountain in the Bernese Oberland, south of Lake Thun. He is sometimes considered to Spiez or Thun as a mountain, but the next bigger town is Brodhüsi.

The sneezing is defined by its distinctive conical or pyramidal shape. Originally was called this mountain " Yesen ", a name for the yellow gentian ( Gentiana lutea), which still flourishes in the mountains. The sneezing is also a known motif watercolor by Paul Klee from the year 1915.

Tourism

The Niesen summit is known for its scenery and is a popular destination for hikers. 1856 first inn was built on the Niesen Kulm. Guests boarded the sneezing distance. Wealthy never let horses and mules or on chairs that were carried by four men on the sneezing. For the 1,700 m altitude difference of Brodhüsi to Niesen, earned eight francs a day a carrier. A Hackney cost 15-20 francs. Since 1910 from the Niesenbahn of Bad Heustrich leads Mülenen to the summit.

In addition to the Niesen funicular leads with 11'674 steps, the longest stairway in the world to the summit. This staircase is only open for the annual Sneeze flight of stairs.
