Province

Ningbo or Ningpo (Chinese宁波市/宁波市, Pinyin shì Ningbo, Ningbo with, " calm wave" ) is a coastal city of east China's Zhejiang Province. She is one of 15 sub- provincial cities (副省级城市) China and thus - to Hangzhou - the second most important city of this province. History

Ningbo looks back on a history 7000jährige. The oldest finds in Yuyao date from the Neolithic Hemudu culture.

During the Qin Dynasty ( 221-207 BC) began here under the guidance of Xu Fu maritime trade with foreign countries. In the second half of the 5th century as a port city Ningbo won an important role, especially with the nearby Korea. During the Tang Dynasty official relations and thus a large part of the trade were interrupted. Until the 11th century, Ningbo had become the most important trade center on the Chinese coast. Economy
