NUTS of Greece

As NUTS: EL (since NUTS 2010 version, previously NUTS: GR) or NUTS regions in Greece refers to the territorial division of Greece under the European " Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics (NUTS)". The change of GR to EL was performed with the 2010 version, by Regulation 2011 of 17 January 2011 amending the Annexes to Regulation (EC ) No 1059/ 2003 of the European Parliament ( EU) No 31 / and the Council on the establishment of a common classification of territorial units for statistics ( NUTS ) was adopted and since January 1, 2012 applies to the transfer of data to the EuroStat.

Basics

In Greece, the three NUTS levels are assigned as follows:

  • NUTS -1: 4 groups of developing regions ( Γεωγραφική Ομάδα / Geografiki Omada )
  • NUTS -2: the 13 regions ( Περιφέρειες / periferies )
  • NUTS -3: 52 regions; each of one or more regional districts, some of which area the same with the former prefectures ( Νομοί / Nomi), which were abolished on 1 January 2011
