Oberwil at Buren is a municipality in the administrative district in the canton of Bern Seeland in Switzerland.

Geography

The neighboring communities of the north are starting clockwise at Ruti Buren, Buchegg, Lüterswil - Gächliwil, Biezwil, Schnottwil and Bueren an der Aare. Oberwil is surrounded by hills and forest, only direction Schnottwil is no forest. Because of the typical hilly Toggenburg area, the area in the late Middle Ages was particularly well suited for the construction of mills.

Attractions

In Oberwil in Buren, there are many preserved mills. One is the flour mill of Otti family, which is still in operation and grinds organic grains.

The former sawmill is now a theme house that can be rented for gatherings. Is the former gate of the city of Berne grain house, which is a sawyer had once dismantled on the mountain side facade. The waterwheel drives a generator today.

Directly below the sawmill itself was another mill, which is now used as a residence. The remaining water wheel also drives a generator.
