Ogródki

Ogródki ( German Baumgarten ) is a village in Poland, in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. The village is located in the rural municipality ( gmina wiejska ) Barciany, powiat Kętrzyński. The village forms a mayor's office ( sołectwo ) in the rural municipality ( gmina wiejska ) Barciany, powiat Kętrzyński. To the mayor's office is one of the villages Pastwiska.

Geography

Geographical location

Ogródki is located in north-eastern Poland. About 13 kilometers north of the Polish state border runs to the Russian Kaliningrad Oblast. Neighbouring localities are in the north Wikrowo, in the east Wólka Jankowska, to the south and west Jankowice Pastwiska.

History

The localization of today Ogródki took place in 1378 according to Kulm law by the Grand Master of the Teutonic Order Winrich von Kniprode. The village consisted of three manors which had a surface ten hooves. 1710 called for the plague 132 fatalities which represented almost the entire population of the village. 1808 30 children attended the school of the village. 1817 was the village of 38 houses. In January 1945, the Red Army occupied the area and as a result of the war Baumgarten was as Ogródki Poland. In the primary school of the village taught in the school year 1949/1950 three teachers 86 students. In 1954, the town seat of a Gromada. After the dissolution of Gromadas Ogródki from 1973 was the seat of a Schulz office in the Gmina Barciany to which Pastwiska belonged.

Traffic

The village is situated on a side street which in the north to two kilometers at Wikrowo in the Province road 650 opens. To the south, the road forks after about three kilometers at Jankowice.

The village does not have its own rail connection. The nearest train station is located in about 15 km south Kętrzyn and to the 20 kilometers southwest situated Korsze. From there, the PKP offers direct connections to Olsztyn and Poznan.

The geographically nearest international airport is Kaliningrad, about 90 kilometers north-west, is located on Russian territory. The nearest international airport on Polish territory is located about 190 kilometers west of Lech Walesa Airport, Gdansk.
