Oost Gelre

Oost Gelre is a municipality of the province of Gelderland. It was created on 1 January 2005 from Groenlo and Lichtenvoorde. The new municipality has a total area of ​​110.19 km ² and counted on 1 January 2013, according to the CBS 29 874 inhabitants.

Places

The municipality includes the town Groenlo and Lichtenvoorde where the local government provisionally has its headquarters, and the villages Lievelde where the train station is on the railway line Zutphen - Winterswijk, Harreveld, Vragender, Zieuwent, Mariënvelde, Zwolle and some smaller towns.

Location and economic

The municipality is located on the German border, in the east of Achterhoek region between Ruurlo and Winterswijk in the west to the east. Previously the site was connected to the railway line Lichtenvoorde -Bocholt.
