Oost Gelre
Oost Gelre is a municipality of the province of Gelderland. It was created on 1 January 2005 from Groenlo and Lichtenvoorde. The new municipality has a total area of 110.19 km ² and counted on 1 January 2013, according to the CBS 29 874 inhabitants.
Places
The municipality includes the town Groenlo and Lichtenvoorde where the local government provisionally has its headquarters, and the villages Lievelde where the train station is on the railway line Zutphen - Winterswijk, Harreveld, Vragender, Zieuwent, Mariënvelde, Zwolle and some smaller towns.
Location and economic
The municipality is located on the German border, in the east of Achterhoek region between Ruurlo and Winterswijk in the west to the east. Previously the site was connected to the railway line Lichtenvoorde -Bocholt. Lichtenvoorde is an extensive village with small industrial and trading companies and a lot of land and fruit growing economy.
Attractions
- In Lievelde there is the small open air museum erve faeces pancake restaurant. It is open from the Easter to mid-October. Also there is a powered by steam engines sawmill, which is kept as a museum in plant stand.
- In Lichtenvoorde takes place every summer a flower parade.
- In Groenlo Carnival is celebrated every year, and in the center there are historical sights from the times of the Eighty Years' War, has become besieged during which Groenlo several times.
