Otto Karl Berg

Otto Karl Berg, Otto Carl Berg ( born August 18, 1815 in Stettin, † November 20, 1866 in Berlin) was a German botanist and pharmacist. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " O.Berg "; earlier was also the abbreviation " OCBerg " in use.

Life and work

Berg was mainly concerned with medicinal plants. In addition, were the myrtle family of one of his areas of research. Some first descriptions come from him, so in 1856, later by Carl burret in Acca sellowiana ( Feijoa ), renamed Orthostemon sellowianus.
