Panama City Beach is a city in Bay County in the U.S. state of Florida with 12,018 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Panama City Beach is located on the Gulf of Mexico, about 5 km west of Panama City and about 160 kilometers west of Tallahassee.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 12,018 inhabitants distributed to 17,141 households. The population density was 252.5 inh. / Km ². 89.5 % of the population were white, 2.3% African American, 0.6 % Native American and 2.7 % Asian Americans. 1.8% were members of other ethnic groups and 3.1% in different ethnic groups. 5.8% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 25.4 % of all households lived in 24.0 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 56.6 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.22 persons and the average family size is 2.76 people.

19.4% of the population were younger than 20 years, 28.5% were 20-39 years old, 28.9 % were 40-59 years old and 22.3% were at least 60 years old. The median age was 41 years. 49.9 % of the population were male and 50.1 % female.

The average annual income was $ 50,047, while 10.8 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 96.48 % of the population spoke Spanish 2.56% and 0.96 % had a different mother tongue.

Traffic

Panama City Beach is on U.S. Highway 98 ( SR 30A ) and the Florida State Roads 30 and 79 crosses. The Tallahassee Regional Airport is located approximately 160 km east of the city.
