Paolo Giobbe
Paolo Cardinal Giobbi ( born January 10, 1880 in Rome, † August 14, 1972 ) was a Vatican diplomat and cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church.
Life
Paolo Giobbi studied in Rome, the subjects philosophy and Catholic theology. He received on 4 December 1904, the priesthood, and then worked for five years as a parish priest in the diocese of Rome. In 1909 he was appointed censor of the Roman liturgy Academy and ex officio proceedings of the Congregation for the Propagation of the Faith. 1917 awarded him Pope Benedict XV. the title of Pontifical domestic prelates, 1918, he entrusted him with the management of the Pontifical Athenaeum " De Propaganda Fide ".
In 1925 he was appointed Titular Archbishop of Ptolemais in Thebaide and received by Cardinal Pietro Gasparri in the chapel of the Pontifical Urban University episcopal ordination. Pope Pius XI. still appointed him in the same year as Apostolic Nuncio in Colombia. In 1935 he was sent by Pope Pius XII. Internuncio than in the Netherlands.
Pope John XXIII. took him in 1958 as a cardinal priest with the titular church of Santa Maria in Vallicella in the College of Cardinals to. Giobbi was dated 8 August 1961 to July 3, 1969 Cardinal Patronus of the Order of Malta. He participated in the years 1962-1965 at the Second Vatican Council.
Paolo Cardinal Giobbi died on 14 August 1972 in Rome and was buried in the cemetery " Campo Verano ".
