Content

The content is rendered in the butcher Bible as follows:

" Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid. And in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. " Matthew 13:44

A direct parallel there is in the other canonical Gospels do not, but a similar version is found in the Gospel of Thomas logion 109, translation by Ernst Haenchen: Jesus said: The kingdom is like a man who has in his field a [ hidden ] treasure of the [ he ] does not know. And [ after ] he let his death the treasure of his [ son. The ] son did not know it. He took that field, he sold it. And the man who had bought him, came. When plowing [ he found ] the treasure. He began to give money on interest to those who he wanted.

Interpretation

Allegorical interpretation approaches

The allegorical interpretation practice is mainly cultivated in Brethren churches and other Bible-believing communities. Here it is assumed that Jesus himself was the man described. In the treasure itself, it is the New Testament believers. Other interpreters interpret the treasure to the people of Israel.

Interpretation points to the kingdom of God

Another interpretation so as represented by George Sing, assumes that the treasure in the field gives a picture of the kingdom of God and the parable shows one way to God. The man who found the treasure, you must first sell everything he has to get in possession of the land and its hidden treasure.
