Patrice Brisebois

Patrice Brisebois ( born January 27, 1971 in Montreal, Quebec ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player and current racers. During his active career, he played Hockey 1992-2009 for the Montreal Canadiens and Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League as well as the Kloten Flyers in the Swiss National League A. He then began a career as a racing driver in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series.

Career

Hockey

Born in Montréal Brisebois began his junior career in 1986 at the Montreal- Bourassa in Quebec Amateur Athletic Association. In his only season there he scored 34 points scorer in 39 games. From the season 1987/88 the defender for three years in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with the Laval Titan was active. Brisebois was during this time, the best attacking defenders in the league. After 44 points in his rookie season, he increased the following year to 65 and in his third year on 88th During this time he was drafted in the NHL Entry Draft in 1989 by the Montreal Canadiens in the second round by a total of 30 point. In addition, he won the Coupe du Président and was elected to the Second All-Star Team of the QMJHL with the titanium in the years 1989 and 1990. Before the start of season 1990/91 Brisebois joined within the QMJHL with the Drummondville Voltigeurs, where he continued the services which he had shown in Laval. With 61 scorer points, he was again very successful. In addition, he was appointed to the First All -Star Team of the QMJHL and received the Trophée Émile Bouchard as the best defender in the league. This entitled him to participate in the elections to CHL Defenceman of the Year, in which he succeeded against Chris Snell and Darryl Sydor. In the four years playing in the QMJHL the Franco-Canadian posted a total of 322 points scorer in 258 games.

Following the departure of his team from the QMJHL playoffs, the Montreal Canadiens brought their former draft choice in the National Hockey League. Brisebois impressed in the ten games that he played, so much so that it has been integrated in the following season firmly in the Canadiens franchise. Although he was mainly at the Fredericton Canadiens, the Montreal's farm team in the American Hockey League action, but also denied 26 games for Montreal. He also came in eleven playoff games available for use. At the end of the playoffs, he won with the Canadiens the prestigious Stanley Cup. For the 1993/94 season Brisebois was an integral part of the NHL squad. Overall, he remained another twelve years until the end of the season 2003 /04 with the Canadiens. His best season, he completed it in 1997/98 when he succeeded in 79 games 37 points season.

Due to the lockout in the NHL season 2004 / / 05 Brisebois left in the summer of 2004, the Canadiens and signed on 13 October 2004 a contract with the Kloten Flyers of the Swiss National League A. However, in the season 2004/ 05 he was only ten times for the Flyers on the ice. Nevertheless, he scored three goals and one assist to match 2005 /06 returned the Canadians back to North America. He signed a two year contract with the Colorado Avalanche. In his first season with the team from Denver, he presented 38 scorer points on a personal high score. The following season was overshadowed by a serious injury of the defender. He played only 33 games since late December 2006 he injured his back. Despite the injury, he found the 2007/08 season in his former team Montreal Canadiens a new employer. Brisebois was given a two- year contract, but did not so regularly used and also excelled in the offense no longer the same as before the injury.

Internationally

Brisebois represented his native country at the Junior World Championships in 1990 in Finland and 1991 in Canada. Both sweeps the Canadian team to win the gold medal. In both years the team towards the USSR was able to gain direct comparison of equality. Brisebois came in two tournaments in all seven games for use. In 1990, he recorded it four points scorer, a year later seven.

NASCAR

Since Brisebois for the 2009/10 season was not a new NHL team that wanted to sign him, he gave 24 September 2009 his retirement from ice hockey known. The French-Canadians devoted himself then a career as a racing driver in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. When NASCAR Canadian Tire Series NAPA Canada AutoPro 100 2009 at the Circuit Gilles -Villeneuve, he finished twelfth grade, after he became 15th in the qualification. Previously, he had already participated in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Canada GP3R 100 2009 at the Circuit Trois- Rivières, but the race ended prematurely because of overheating.
