Pěčnov

Pěčnov ( German Pietschnau ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located six kilometers north-west of Prachatice and belongs to Okres Prachatice.

Geography

Pěčnov located to the left of the Blanice in the source basin of the Drozdovsky creek in the Šumava foothills. Southeast of the Blanice is jammed in the drinking water reservoir Husinec.

Neighboring towns are Chlumany in the northeast, Husinec in the east, in the southeast Horouty, Dvory in the south, and Lažiště Vojslavice the southwest, Žárovná in the west and Dachov and Dolni Kožlí in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of the scale in the 15th century the village was in 1435. Since 1569 the place belonged to the rule Vlachovo Březí. In the Berni rula two Chaluppen are listed with six residents for Pěčnovo. In the fires of 1697 and 1703, the since 1676 known as Pecínov village was destroyed by a house. In 1720 the place was named as Peitschnau and 1790 as Bietschnau. The name of the place is preserved as Píčnov from 1840.

After the abolition of patrimonial Píčnov became a municipality, which was renamed in 1854 in Píšnov. At the village fire of 1879 burned down 19 houses. Today's local name Pěčnov is used since 1903. In the 1920s the city reached with 178 inhabitants, the largest population in its history. 1930 was Pěčnov of 28 houses where 139 people lived.

In 1961, the annexation to Chlumany and on 1 July 1980 together with it after Vlachovo Březí; since November 24, 1990 Pěčnov again forms a community.

Attractions

  • Chapel on the village square, started in 1864 on the initiative of Vojtěch Soumar the ringing of the bell to warn of severe weather, 1897 Soumar was killed during ringing by a lightning.
