Pedro Lamy

Pedro Lamy (actually José Pedro Mourão Lamy Viçoso Nunes, born March 20, 1972 in Aldeia Galega, Portugal) is a Portuguese racing driver.

Career

Beginnings in motorsport

The former motocross and kart driver won the 1989 Portuguese Formula Ford 1600 title and then moved to the GM Lotus Euro series, which he was able to win in 1991. He also won in both 1990 and 1991 together with Diago Castro Santos the Formula Opel Lotus Nations Cup. The following year he won on Reynard 923/Opel with eleven wins the German Formula 3 Championship. In 1993, the change to formula 3000th With a victory at the Grand Prix de Pau and three other podium finishes, he lost a point behind the season to Olivier Panis.

Formula 1

Due to the good results in Formula 3000, he managed to step up to Formula 1, where he replaced Alessandro Zanardi Lotus. GT and sports car racing

After the end of his Formula 1 career, Pedro Lamy was launched in 1997 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and finished third in the GT1 category. Then he moved to the FIA GT and won there in 1998 along with Olivier Beretta the GT2 drivers' and team standings. He scored on the Chrysler Viper GTS -R, eight of the ten possible class victories for the Oreca team. The following year he rode for the factory team of Peugeot in the LMP1 category and scored with Stéphane Sarrazin three overall victories and the championship of the Le Mans Series.
