Pedro Tenorio

Pedro " Pete " Pangelinan Tenorio ( born April 18, 1934 on Saipan ) is a retired American politician. Between 1982 and 1990, and again from 1998 to 2002 he was governor of the Northern Mariana Islands.

Career

Pedro Tenorio attended George Washington High School in Guam and studied at the University of Guam after. He then worked as a teacher, mail and manager of a technical naval training unit. At the same time he embarked on a political career. He was a member of the Congress of Micronesia and later in the Senate of the Northern Mariana Islands, its vice- president, he was in the meantime. In 1980 he became president of this chamber. He became a member of the Republican Party.

In 1981 he was elected as the successor of Carlos S. Camacho for the second Governor of the Northern Mariana Islands. After a re-election he was able to hold this office between January 1982 and January 8, 1990 11. In 1997 he was again elected to that office, which he held between January 1998 and January 14, 2002 12 again. He joined in 1998 the successor of Froilan Tenorio.
