Petar Aleksandrov

Petar Aleksandrov (also Petar Aleksandrov, Bulgarian Петър Александров; born December 7, 1962 in Karlovo ) is a Bulgarian football coach and former football player. Petar Aleksandrov has achieved in over 400 league games with its clubs a strike rate of over 0.5 goals / game.

Career

Player

He has played as a striker. He started his career at Levski ( Karlovo ) - in the regional football Group B had 26 games and 10 Tortreffer (1981 /82). In the A Grupa he scored 110 goals ( 100 goals for and 10 goals for Slawia Sofia Levski Sofia). He graduated in A Grupa 185 games ( 173 games for Slawia Sofia from 1982 to 1989 and 12 games for Levski Sofia as of 1994 ).

With Levski Sofia he won the championship of the country Cup 1994 ( Nationalcup Bulgaria - Национална купа на България по футбол ). The bronze medal he won in 1982 and 1986 with Slawia Sofia. For Slawia Sofia he played 4 games in the UEFA Cup. From 1989 to 1991 he played for Kortrijk (Belgium ) (1989 /90) and Energie Cottbus (1990 /91). He then played for the Swiss FC Aarau (autumn 1991 to autumn 1993 and autumn 1998 to spring 2000 ), football club Neuchatel Xamax (1994 /95), FC Luzern (fall 1995 to spring 1998 ), Baden (Spring 2000), Kickers (2000 / 2001) and Blue Stars (Autumn 2001). In total he scored 117 goals. 1992/93 he won the Swiss championship with FC Aarau and he was elected as the best foreign player in the league. In 1997 he was a finalist in the Swiss Cup with FC Luzern.

Twice he was top scorer in the top Swiss league (1995 with 24 goals for Neuchatel Xamax, and in 1996 with 19 goals for FC Lucerne). He was a participant at the SP- 1994, but was not used in the game.

His debut as national team he had on September 10, 1986 against Scotland in Euro qualifying (0-0 ). For the national team, he played 25 games and scored five goals. He was regarded as a strong attacker who acted with both feet and was also known for his headed goals. He was assistant to Krassimir Balakov the Grasshopper Club Zurich, coach for the amateur team of FC Aarau and auxiliary coach at PAOK Thessaloniki.

Coach

After his retirement as a player Aleksandrov remained in Switzerland, and managed the reserve of FC Aarau 2002-2004 until he was Assistant Manager at the Greek club PAOK Thessaloniki.

In 2006 he was appointed assistant of his compatriot Krassimir Balakov at FC St. Gallen. However, after a few months he left the club to join the coaching team at Grasshopper Club Zurich. Plamen Markov appointed him in 2008 as his assistant in the Bulgarian national football team.
