Peter Schmidhuber

Peter M. Schmidhuber (* December 15, 1931 in Munich) is a German state, federal and European politician of the CSU.

Biography

After graduation Schmidhuber studied from 1951 Law and Economics at the Ludwig- Maximilians- University of Munich. It was 1955, the diploma in economics and put 1956 and 1960, the First Second state examination. He has worked since 1961 in the State Revenue Service, after which he was from 1966 to 1978 as an attorney with the approval of the district courts of Munich I Munich II and worked.

Schmidhuber occurred in 1952 in the CSU and was regarded as a political foster child of Josef Müller ( called Ochsensepp ). From 1960 to 1966 he was a member of the Munich City Council, from 1965 to 1969 and from 1972 to 1978 Member of the German Bundestag. Schmidhuber was elected in 1978 in the Bavarian Parliament, where he served until 1987. Franz Josef Strauss appointed him in 1978 as Minister of State for Federal and European Affairs in his cabinet. The Office he clothed until 1987. Moreover, he was a member of the Federal Council, the Mediation Committee and the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.

From 1987 to 1995, Schmidhuber member of three European Commissions ( Delors I-III) under Jacques Delors in Brussels, responsible for regional policy and market economy, since January 1989 for budgetary control. From 1995 to 1999 he was a member of the Executive Board of the Deutsche Bundesbank in Frankfurt am Main.

Peter M. Schmidhuber has been a lawyer today. His work focuses on monetary, banking and financial law, European law and competition law. He is since 1981 an honorary member of the Catholic Student Association KDSt.V. Rheno - Franconia in Munich CV. He is also a member of the Board of the St. Gallen Foundation for International Studies.

Family

Schmidhuber is widowed and has a daughter ( Susanne ). His interests are history and philosophy, chess and art.
