Peter Utzschneider

Peter Utzschneider ( born March 6, 1946 in Murnau ) is a retired German bobsledder.

Utzschneider had his greatest success as a pusher / brakeman with the bobsleigh pilot Wolfgang Zimmerer. Twice he took part with him in the Olympic Winter Games. In 1972 he won at the Games of Sapporo gold in the two- and bronze in four. Four years later in Innsbruck, he won again bronze in the quad. At the World Championships, he won gold in 1969 in Lake Placid four, 1970 in St. Moritz Silver in both Bobklassen, 1971 in Cervinia bronze in the quad, 1973 in Lake Placid as the 1972 Olympic Games gold and bronze in two of four. 1974 in St. Moritz was a double victory added in two Bobs. In the Italian Cervinia Utzschneider won again in 1974 and 1976 in Igls four bronze bronze. Here walked in twos but Manfred Schumann, who had recently changed the first German track and field athlete in bobsleigh, with carpenters at the start.

Also at European Championships Utzschneider launched successfully with its pilots carpenters. 1967 in Igls the double first won two silver. A year later in St. Moritz even gold. In 1970, in Cortina d' Ampezzo first of four gold added, also bronze in pairs. A year later there were in Koenigssee again two bronze and silver in the four-man event. 1972 in St. Moritz, they won gold in pairs and silver again in the quad. A year later, in Cervinia they managed again the Double. The last medal in 1976 was silver in four-man bobsleigh in St. Moritz.
