History

The story of Pierz began in 1869, when the still existing Pierz Township was created. The Township was named after a native of Slovenia Catholic priest Francis Xavier Pierz. In 1892 the present town, which was known as Rich Prairie previously was renamed Pierz and incorporated as a separate municipality.
