Polevskoy

Polewskoi (Russian Полевской ) is a town in Sverdlovsk Oblast (Russia) with 64 220 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The city is located on the eastern flank of the Middle Urals, about 50 km southwest of Yekaterinburg Oblasthauptstadt at the Polewaja, a tributary of the opening into the Kama Chusovaya.

Polewskoi the Oblast is administratively subordinated directly.

Ten kilometers from the city center is the city's railway station on the railway Yekaterinburg - Chelyabinsk.

History

Polewskoi was created in 1708 after the discovery of a Kupfererzlagerstätte, their systematic dismantling began in 1718. 1724-27 the copper smelter Polewski Sawod was built in 1738 and eight kilometers from the ironworks Seversky Zavod.

Culture and sights

In Polewskoi there is a Pawel - Baschow Museum. The writer and folklorist (1879-1950) spent his childhood; many of its trading in the Urals and often based on folk tales fairy tales and stories are based in the area around the city, where, among other things some of the most famous, but now exhausted Malachitfundorte were, for example Gumeschki.
