Portugal national futsal team

The Portuguese National Futsal is a representative selection of Portuguese futsal player. The team represents the Portuguese Football Federation at international meetings. The team is one of the strongest teams in Europe, in 2000 it was World Cup bronze medalist, 2010 took one second place at the European Championship.

Performance in tournaments

Portugal took part in six European Championships. They celebrated the greatest success in 2010 when they lost in the final with Spain 2:4. As early as 2007 it failed at the European Championships at home in the semifinals in the Iberian duel against Spain with 3:4 in six meter shooting. The subsequent 3rd place match they lost against Russia 2:3.

2000 took Portugal for the first time at a World Cup final tournament after previously not invited either (1989 ) or in the qualification had no chance (1992, 1996). 2000 sets you up against the favored Italians through the qualification and reached immediately at the World Cup debut in third place. In the semifinals, they cashed it a 0:8 record defeat against defending champions Brazil, in 3rd place match to beat Russia in spite 0:2 behind 4-2. In the 2004 World Cup we failed in the second round to Italy and Spain. 2008 Portugal was unable to prevent the premature eliminated in the group stage despite three wins in four games as they lost the decisive match against Italy 3-1. 2012 Portugal reached the quarterfinals where they went 3-0 against Italy in the lead, but then subsequently failed 4:3 after extra time.

In the Jogos da Lusofonia 2006 they finished tied second place behind Brazil. Here, the 56:0 - record victory over East Timor was not enough, since Brazil later even with 76:0 won a short time against the same opponents. 2009 Purtugal had to settle for silver, since the decisive match against Brazil 2-0 lost again.
