Prüm (river)

The Prüm in Waxweiler

The Prüm is a 85 km long river in the Eifel region ( Rhineland -Palatinate). It rises at the northeastern end of the Schneifelrückens between Ormont and Reuth at 600 meters altitude in the Arenberg forest. The river is known for its rapids between Prümzurlay and Irrel ( Prüm or Irreler waterfalls), where take place canoeing competitions regularly.

In beer lakeside village the Prüm flows through the Bitburg reservoir. In Holsthum the Enz and in Irrel lead the Nims in the Prüm. A little further in Minden finally opens the Prüm itself as the largest tributary to the sour, the largest left-side tributary of the Moselle River. The mouth of the Prüm is on the same longitude as the source, and thus exactly the south of the source.
