Punchy, Somme

Punchy ( Picard: Peuchin ) is a northern French village with 81 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region. The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Montdidier, in the canton of Rosières -en- Santerre and is part of the Communauté de communes de Haute Picardie.

Geography

The community is located approximately 4 km south of and immediately adjacent to Chaulnes and 9 km east-southeast of Rosières -en- Santerre on the road department D39. As the only Canton Municipality is also the other community association than the vast number of municipalities in the canton belonging Punchy mostly east of the high-speed rail route of the LGV Nord and the Autoroute A1.

History

Punchy received as an award, the Croix de guerre 1914-1918.
