Qadian ( Urdu قادیان, DMG Qadian ) is a city in the Indian state of Punjab, about 120 km from Lahore away.

History

The city was founded in the 16th century by Mirza Hadi Beg, as this settled with 200 followers at the site of the present city center. Mirza Hadi Beg gave the settlement the name of Islampur ( full of Islam).

As Mirza Hadi Beg was bequeathed by the emperor was a Jagir was seat of the Municipality and was named Islampur Qazi (or Qadi ). The name Islampur was allowed to gradually fall; you named the village only Qadi and finally it became Qadian.
